What am I?

Was at the lake last Saturday for an open house party. After we ate we roamed around the lake and I saw this bird. At first it I thought it's a cemented bird statue because for how long it didn't move. Until I asked my friend who live there, if it's a real bird ^_^ or not. She says it's a real bird lol!!

So I watched her and yes it moved but so slow like she is waiting for a fish to catch.

Now this one she is in action I think she saw fish or fishes. But I am so amazed how graceful she moved. What is this bird is it  a she or a he?

Identify me

Lately I have not seen birds coming to my feeder I guess because they can find food anywhere like worms, seeds or other stuff. But I have some photos taken last few weeks ago  and I can't identify them yet for I am new in backyard birding ^_^

Is this the same one as above?

Update: MaineBirder named this bird and as I looked at it yes I think this is really a house finch. A purple finch has the same color but the color is too deep in pink. Thanks MaineBirder!
